How heavy are Airomat mats?
Because of the large square openings, the area the mat takes up is mostly made of air. Some mats have large round openings. Because those openings are round and not square, there is more material between the openings and can make the mat heavier. Airomat weights only about 1.05 pounds per square foot. Take your total square feet (3’x5’= 15 sq ft.) and multiply that figure by 1.05 lbs (15 x 1.05 = 15.75 lbs total) So a 3 ft x 5 ft Airomat weighs about 16 lbs.
How do chemicals affect Airomats?
Airomat is made of flexible non-absorbent PVC material, and it not only holds up well to most chemicals, it is also mold and mildew proof.
How much weight can Airomat matting hold?
When tested under pressure, Airomat matting held up to 2,000 PSI (pounds per square inch.)
Is Airomat Fatigue Relief Anti Fatigue mats comfortable?
Yes, very comfortable. One study showed that in an 8 hour day, a worker can get 2 hours relief with an Airomat. The supportive comfort comes from firm support of the strips and comfort of the air pockets created when you step on the mat. It all has to do with the right combination - smaller openings (less air space) the strips would have to be softer, and larger openings (more air space) would be the reverse.
How long will Airomat mats last?
As any matting manufacturer will tell you, it all depends on the use – traffic over the mat and chemicals on the mat. My customers have mats that have been in a grooming area for horses for over 20 years. Some customers have mats that have been exposed to severe chemicals and oils. Those mats have lasted approx 5 years. Finally we have customers that have used their mats for over 20 years and they are still in good shape.
Airomat is made of PVC. A benefit to using this material is that it gets harder from use. Rubber mats will usually get softer over time. PVC is non-absorbent, which can add to the life. Airomats are reversible therefore traction can be divided between both sides. Cleaning and flipping the mat can add to its life.
Do Airomat Safety Mats have good traction or are they anti-slip?
Yes. The large square openings create edges that give better traction. The mat is made of strips that have anti-slip traction tread on the top and on the bottom, giving not only better traction on the mat but also better traction from the mat to the floor. These strips are setup in a cross pattern – creating anti-slip properties.
Our mats need to be moved often for cleaning. Do Airomats roll up and out easily?
Yes. The unique one-of-a-kind design creates a tough yet flexible mat. It is very flexible. The combination of floating woven strips and large openings create a flexible mat. You can simply start rolling it, stand up, and kick it the rest of the way. Kick it, and it rolls back out almost on its own.
Is Airomat safety matting easy to clean?
Yes. When something drops to the mat the design of the mat, large openings and less material between the openings, makes the difference. Debris and liquids drop into the openings. The flexible mat rolls up easily and the debris stays on the floor.
What kind of color combination can I get? How do I choose a pattern?
Airomat is made of color strips running vertically and horizontally. Any strip in any direction can be a different color (hand made in the USA). Start with picking the main color of the mat then add a color strip wherever you wish. For example, you may want black as the main color with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd strips yellow on both of the lengths. The color strips help encourage safety. They can designate different areas or departments.
Where does Airomat matting get its superior safety?
Colors, traction, ability to stay clean, and comfort is where the safety comes from. For example, you can add safety striping in a variety of color for added safety. Airomat’s traction grabs your foot and the floor.
What else can an Airomat be used for besides on the floor?
Airomats have many other uses. They are used on top of tables to protect the table and the product. The large openings capture debris that may scratch the product. Airomat is used in barrels, containers, boxes, compartments, and shelving. The openings and the flexible PVC keeps products from sliding around.
